Nature's Kiss Clary Sage Essential Oil has a fruity, nutty, herbaceous and heavy aroma with a top to middle note. Clary sage has a long history for being used medicinally and is typically grown for it's essential oil. The oil is warming and is considered to have sedative properties. It can induce mild feelings of euphoria in some people and it makes for an excellent nerve tonic. It is a relaxing oil that can be applied to baths or as a fragrant agent in products such as perfumes and lotions that can help ease nervous tension. It was used as an aphrodisiac during the 12th century. The Romans used it as an eyewash, and some herbalist still recommend using the clary sage seed to remove foreign objects in the eye. It also was used in place of hops in beer because it would produce an intensified intoxicating effect due to it's sedative nature (possibly why it was considered an aphrodisiac as it intensified intoxicated feelings), although it was often followed by a severe headache and dizziness. Clary sage was often used in teas and beers to help alleviate female problems such as irregular or painful menstruation and pains in the lower back. It has also been used to soothe digestive problems such as gas and indigestion.
